ADFND-112: Technics of Communication

To begin our adventures through Technical Communication we begin to abstract and caputre a moment. The moment we our capturing is Philadelphia's East Falls Bridge. We began by capturing a large quanitiy of images together and began familiarizing ourselves with Adobe Photoshop. We edited our favorite photos and create a grid.
The next step of the excercise was to create a site / location plan of the surrounding area, and to create a traced perspctive of the the bridge.
The final part of the assignment was to create an architectural collage capturing and expressing a moment or idea. I waned to capture the fluididy of the bridge and express movment and reflection.
The Second assignment gave us the thought of overlaying photographs with traced drawings to create a contrast that blends with orthogonlal images with the real thing.
Our next lesson was to master Adobe Photo shop by editng photos using mustilple editing tools such as the clone stamp, and saturation effects on the images. For this this peticular image two individuals were editied out and so was the large reversed sign. Along with that the rust stains were cleaned up the contrast and saturation were touched.
For each of the four photos we chosed iw anted to experiement with different effects. For this one i chose the inversion tool. Along with the inversion i also cleaned up messy and unwanted branches.
For this one i wanted to create a a contrast of grey scale verus movement of color. I chose the yellow in particlular areas to represnt movement down the bridge.
The final image experiement with a hue effect. Along with cleaning up the rust stains.
This assignemnt was our first attempt at using mylar. This was a repeat of assignment 2 but using mylar to chose specific edits to highlight the constrast of drawing versus image.
This next approuch was to become familiar with Adobe Indesign. We sketched out an iteam of our choice and create a layout on the programn.
This assignment became an evolution of the previous assignement, but with this one we hand drafted the iteams.
For as Assignment 6 we began using Adobe Illustrator and as with the last 2 assignments we drafted our images on Illustrator and overlayed them on Indesign.
For this assignment we were given the ability to revisit a previous assignment and recreate it with the knowlege of why it was not successful. In my particular case i did not finish the Respresentation of a Technical Drafted Object. After successfully completing the assignment I create a comparison diagramn to show the changes.
As a designer I recreated a monumental house, in particular, Falling Water by Frank Lloyd Wright. After I constructed my model for my design class, I documented my  work and photographed it to convey a major concept of the house and show the model in a professional light.
In this assignment, I developed the ablility to communicate a process through visual media. This is a vital tool for communicating more complex ideas in later years of architectural design, because it facilitates communicating with future clients or business partners. In this I took the pop cultural idea of how to take a “selfie”.
Throughout this semester I have drawn, digitally remasterd, and communicated conceptual thought through various mediums. In this assignement I revisited the idea of documentation, such as in the East Falls Documentation. I am now analyzing the Barnes Foundation building in Philadelphia, PA. In this I am conveying a concrete concept of reflection through drawings, photographs, and architectural collage.
This Assignment gave me the chance to develope and create a professional portfolio layout and develope my portfolio for this class. This is the cover slide for my portfolio layout.
During the next step of mastering the Adobe Creative Suites was to create and resdesign a book cover choosen from a list provided from the professor. For my book cover i chose George Orwell’s Animal Farm. In desining this book cover I chose to take the theme of communism in high consideration. After redesigning the cover I documented the new cover in context in mulitple styles.
During this assginment I was given the task of graphicly communicating an idea or concept, but unlike the previous assignment I have to rely heavily on text. For this graphic piece I was given the joy to design an archiectural lecture poster for the Univeristy of London’s Bartlett School of Architecture. In this poster I was given the requirment of presenting at least 5 architects that would possibly lecture at this University.
With this being our last assignment in this class, I was given the freedom to design and submit any compostion of my choice that relates to my Design 2: Arch Foundations Studio. In that studio i desgined a visitors center to accompany Frank Lloyd Wrights’ Falling Water.
